On average, 500 people die every year as a result of accidents involving HGVs
Safe-vehicle will give you and your drivers peace of mind that the lorry has been inspected before each trip and that it is safe to drive. By using the duplicate checklist, developed with the help of the RTITB, the driver can inspect each of the components of the vehicle to ensure its safety. Whilst completing the checklist a copy is automatically created on the duplicate page in the pad. Assuming that the vehicle passes the inspection, the top copy of the checklist can either be placed in the transport office or folded in half to display its green reverse and placed inside the safety status indicator on the windscreen of the vehicle. The pad can also either be returned to the transport office or held in the cab. If a problem had been identified, then the checklist should be given to the maintenance team and the vehicle left to show that it is unsafe to use. |
