How can an operative be sure that a pendant crane is safe for use? (LOLER 1998 Reg. 9)
Safe-crane allows you to complete a checklist of components of pendant cranes to ensure that they receive a visual pre-use inspection to confirm their safety. Once completed, assuming that the crane is O.K, the top copy of the duplicate checklist is torn from the pad, folded in half to display its green side and inserted into the safety paddle so that all employees can immediately see that the crane is safe.
The duplicate copy of the checklist remains in the inspection book as your master copy of all inspections completed. Should a problem have been identified, then the checklist can be passed to the maintenance team for action, leaving the safety indicator to warn employees that the crane is unsafe. |
